Editor’s Verdict:

Match Doctor is a free dating website which allows its user to contact each other using an email system. Everyone can build a free profile, which contains a useful amount of information for finding a suitable date (though much of the information is not optional so the sign up process is longer than you might like). The site claims that it is 100% free and whilst this is true you can also upgrade to gold membership, though there are few noticeable advantages that make it worth the money.

Searching for members can range from very a simple to a very complex process, with a huge number of variables and preferences to choose from. If you’re not picky then you’ll likely get a huge number of results, though a lot of them consist of profiles without photos or one that have been inactive for months. In the case of our test, we received over 400 results but the majority of them were not worth contacting due to an empty profile, no photos or simply because they hadn’t been using their account. Thankfully, MatchDoctor does show you when each member was last logged in, so it’s easy to avoid those who don’t really bother with the site any more. However, the site openly admits that they do not screen members, so you need to be aware of potential scams and frauds.

There are a number of forums which you can read and write in, which is a nice addition although things can get a little heated (and not necessarily in the good sense). You can also read and write blog posts or take part in quizzes. An “events” page is also upcoming, which is a good way of finding out about dating events in your area, should you be interested.

With a simple click you can see who is online at any time, though the numbers seem a little deflating and chances are you won’t find much going on in your area necessarily. The site is easy enough to navigate but is also bland and uninspiring, not helped by its cheap ads and ugly hyperlinks.

All in all, is a free dating website. Its upgrade options are relatively useless and overly expensive. The site isn’t terrible but there are other dating websites which provide a better free service with more active members. Rather than money, you may end up spending a lot of time fruitlessly on Match Doctor. Put staying positive, there’s not a lot of harm in creating a profile and performing a search to see if there are any other active members who might catch your eye.
